It’s a Wild Wild Life
So a couple weeks ago our 7 month old daughter rolled over for the first time.
We are all very excited. Now if you have babies you're probably thinking,
"Seven months old..? Our baby rolled over at 4 months." Well whoop de doo for
you. But as our doctor said, "Fat and happy babies don’t roll over until they
are good and ready".
Anyhow, she rolled over on Tuesday and on Wednesday our five year old son
decided he would help her roll her back. This episode ended after a quick
trip to the Emergency Room. But in the end her elbow ended up relocating
itself. We learned that dislocated elbows in infants are referred to as
"Nursemaid’s Elbow". Obviously at some time in the past child abuse from the
nursemaid was so commonly accepted that they even began naming childhood
ailments after it. The bottom line is this: she will now be susceptible to
Nursemaid's Elbow for the next five years.
So our happy little five year old cherub went to the doctor for a checkup
yesterday. With my wife standing there the doctor asked him "What is your favorite
vegetable?" You want to know what he answered? He said, "Sour cream and onion
potato chips".
Isn’t he adorable folks? My wife was ready to crawl under the exam table. So
the doctor decided to ask the question again but from a different angle, "What
is your favorite green food to eat?" With his own giggle filled smile he
answered "Grass". I was half expecting him to say
margaritas.

You know, he really is a great kid and we are very proud of all three of our
kids. Sometimes I’ll ask, "Who loves you?" Will and Jack will both answer,
"Mommy, chopped liver, Will, Jack and Anna". To which I’ll ask, "What about
me" and they say, "You’re chopped liver".
I just can’t catch a break.
