Maybe they have a Secret Handshake too

So a Ron Shelby of Phila PA writes in and asks;
Dear Billo,
I’m a long time reader of your rant page, and this is my first time writing
in. Can you tell me; which ear do straight men get pierced?

Well “Ron”, it used to be that straight men only got their left ear pierced. However, as
Americans, we are always challenging social norms and pushing the envelope of
acceptance. As a result, people of different orientations are now more
commonly accepted and no longer require “secret signals”.
Many men now feel comfortable getting both ears pierced, and pierced multiple times.
It is interesting to note however that if you ever notice a man with both ears
pierced, he will almost always have one ear pierced more times than the other.
But it is all rather silly don’t you think? A man who I used to work
with used to ride motorcycles with a rough group of bikers. He said that two of
his riding associates were one day discussing this very topic. Apparently they
went on about it for several minutes before incurring the ire of one of the
toughest riders in the group.
The rough-rider ended the discussing with the
following terse piece of prose, "If a guy gets his left ear pierced, it
means he wants his left ear pierced. If a guy gets his right
ear pierced, it means he wants his right ear pierced. Now shut the
hell up!"
And I think that sums up the whole argument. Now, not that I care, but you can
always let me know
what you think.
